2 Sajak Seonggok Jagung (WS Rendra)
Seonggok jagung di kamar, dan seorang pemuda, yang kurang sekolahan. Memandang jagung itu, sang pemuda melihat ladang, ia melihat petani, ia melihat panen, dari suatu hari subuh, para wanita dengan gendongan, pergi ke pasar. Dan ia juga melihat, suatu pagi hari, di dekat sumur gadis-gadis bercanda, sambil menumbuk jagung, menjadi maisena. Sedang di dalam dapur, tungku-tungku menyala. Di dalam udara murni, tercium bau kuwe jagung. Seonggok jagung di kamar, dan seorang pemuda. Ia siap menggarap jagung. Ia melihat kemungkinan, otak dan tangan, siap bekerja.

3 Tetapi ini: Senggok jagung di kamar, dan seorang pemuda tamat SLA. Tak ada uang, tak bisa menjadi mahasiswa. Hanya ada seonggok jagung di kamarnya. Ia memandang jagung itu, dan ia melihat dirinya terlunta-lunta. Ia melihat dirinya ditendang dari diskotek. Ia melihat sepasang sepatu kenes dibalik etalase, Ia melihat saingannya naik sepeda motor. Ia melihat nomor-nomor lotere. Ia melihat dirinya sendiri miskin dan gagal. Seonggok jagung di kamar, tidak menyangkut pada akal, tidak akan menolongnya.

4 Senggok jagung di kamar,
tak akan menolong seorang pemuda. Yang pandangan hidupnya berasal dari buku, dan tidak dari kehidupan. Yang tidak terlatih dalam metoda, dan hanya penuh hafalan kesimpulan. Yang hanya terlatih sebagai pemakai, tetapi kurang latihan bebas berkarya. Pendidikan telah memisahkannya dari kehidupan. Aku bertanya: Apakah gunanya pendidikan, Bila hanya membuat seorang menjadi asing, di tengah kenyataan persoalannya. bila hanya mendorong seseorang, menjadi layang-layang di ibukota, Kikuk pulang ke daerahnya.

5 APAKAH RENDA SEDANG MENYINDIR PENDIDIKAN KITA YA ???
Apakah gunanya seseorang belajar filsafat, sastra, teknologi, ilmu kedokteran, atau apa saja. Bila pada akhirnya, ketika ia pulang ke daerahnya lalu berkata: “Di sini aku merasa asing dan sepi!”. (dikutip dari Potret Pembangunan dalam Puisi,1975) APAKAH RENDA SEDANG MENYINDIR PENDIDIKAN KITA YA ???

Engkaulah busur asal anakmu, anak panah hidup, melesat pergi. Sang Pemanah membidik sasaran keabadian, Dia merentangkanmu dengan kuasaNya, hingga anak panah itu melesat jauh dan cepat. Bersukacitalah dalam rentangan tangan Sang Pemanah, sebab Dia mengasihi anak-anak panah yang melesat laksana kilat, sebagaimana dikasihiNya pula busur yang mantap. (Kalil Gibran)

14 Pandangan Kritis thd Pendidikan Saat Ini
We have designed our schools on the implicit assumption that all the problems in the world have already been solved and the teachers knows the answers. Do the job of the teacher in to tell the students the problem, the answer, and literally to “school” them. In my view of the world, the future world is constant discontinuity, the problems are not there yet……Traditional education, therefore in danger of being deskilling……. (Charles Handy,1997) Pandangan Kritis thd Pendidikan Saat Ini In today’s highly competitive global “knowledge economy”, all students need new skills for college, careers and citizenship. The failure to give all students these new skills leaves today’s youth and our country at alarming competitive disadvantage. School haven’t changed, the world has. And so our schools are not failing. Rather, they are obsolete-even the ones that score the best on standardized tests (Wagner, 2008).

15 The important thing is not the level of education, but whether the education system turns out with the required skills……. ….Should the digital natives student learn the old way or should the digital immigrants instructors learn to teach according to the way……..Sometimes the way out of dilemma is to avoid choosing, but the paradigm has permanently and irrevocably changed, which seem likely, the education system can only survive by adapting to accommodate the digital native and the way they think. It had the advantage of opening the door for interdisciplinary and multitasking world, which maybe the key to controlling and extracting from the flow of information we need…… (Moller, 2011)

…….We are not predicting the collapse of your local elementary school. Young people will not be forced to retreat behind computer screens to become educated. Rather, we see the seeds of new education system forming in the rapid growth of new learning alternatives, such as home schooling, learning centers, workplace learning, and distance education. These new alternatives will make us rethink the dominant role of K-12 public schools in education as children and adults spend more time learning in new venues. (Collins & Halverson, 2009)
