3 Business Information Systems (BIS)
Business Information Systems adalah kumpulan dari komponen- komponen yang saling berkait dan bekerja sama untuk menjalankan aktivitas input, proses, output, storage, dan control, dengan tujuan untuk memproses data menjadi informasi yang dapat digunakan untuk mendukung peramalan, perencanaan, kontrol, koordinasi, pengambilan keputusan, dan aktivitas operasional dalam suatu organisasi.

4 Elemen pendukung BIS People resources: termasuk user pengguna BIS dan orang yang mengembangkan, memelihara, dan mengoperasikan sistem Hardware resources: istilah hardware merujuk pada semua tipe mesin, tidak hanya hardware komputer Software resources: sama seperti di atas, istilah software tidak hanya merujuk pada program komputer, tetapi juga mendiskripsikan prosedur- prosedur yang digunakan oleh user. Communication resources: dibutuhkan untuk proses transfer data dengan berbagai sistem Data resources: Mendiskripsikan semua data yang dapat diakses oleh organisasi, apapun bentuknya

Transaction Processing Systems (TPS) Memproses dan mencatat transaksi harian dalam proses bisnis Melayani operational level Manajer bisa memantau status dari suatu transaksi dan relasi nya dengan pihak luar Management Information Systems (MIS) Menyediakan laporan performa terkini, berdasarkan data dari TPS Melayani middle management Memiliki sedikit kapabilitas analisa

Decision Support Systems (DSS) Melayani middle management Mendukung pengambilan keputusan tak rutin (contoh: apakah dampak terhadap jadwal produksi apabila penjualan di bulan Desember naik 2x lipat?) Bisa menggunakan data eksternal, data dari TPS ataupun MIS Executive Support Systems (ESS) Mendukung top management Mendukung pengambilan keputusan tak rutin yang memerlukan pertimbangan, evaluasi, dan wawasan Mengintegrasikan data eksternal dan rangkuman informasi dari MIS dan DSS
