4 CODATA Data Policy Committee: Vision  Designed to help CODATA fulfill mission and lead on Data Policy Issues internationally.  Genuinely international and diverse in membership and perspective: c. 12 members from  Advisory Body: advise international programmes and other initiatives.  Agenda Setting: position statements (short statements or white papers) on data policy issues.  Benefit CODATA members: engage with National Committees and Unions where appropriate.  Promote greatest possible availability of data assets.  Engage in a process of validation and iteration with National CODATA Committees (and academies, funders, transnational bodies …), with International Scientific Unions (and Learned Societies, publishers, journal editorial boards ….).

7 CODATA National Committees  CODATA Membership is largely national, so National Committees play an important role.  What are the benefits of having a CODATA National Committee?  National forum and coordination (policy, standards, data issues, young researchers…)  Forum for national stakeholders (research funders, National Academies, research institutions, data centres, learned societies, research libraries, etc)  Engagement with CODATA International and other countries.  Network effect of collaboration, exchanges between National Committees  Strong and active national committees provide good examples for other countries.

10 Data and Development  International Workshop on Open Data for Science and Sustainability in Developing Countries, Nairobi, Kenya, 4-8 August 2014:  Organised by longstanding PASTD Task Group.  Communication and Information Committee, World Federation of Engineering Organization (WFEO-CIC), Ministry of Communication and Information of Kenya (MCIK) and UNESCO.  Two-day training workshop for young scientists in good data management practice, 4-5 Aug.  Main workshop, 6-8 Aug:  Promote long-term preservation, archiving, and open access to scientific and technical data with respect to sustainability goals and coordinating international research programmes such as Future Earth.  Develop and endorse a set of principles and guidelines for preservation of and open access to research data in developing counties.

15 Aktivitas CODATA di Indonesia Indonesia menjadi anggota penuh CODATA pada Konferensi CODATA ke 15 dan General Assembly CODATA – ICSU yang ke 20 di Tsukuba Jepang pada tahun Komite Nasional CODATA Indonesia dilembagakan di bawah naungan LIPI pada pertemuan Task Group Meeting and Workshop CODATA/DSAO 2004 di Jakarta pada tanggal Juli 2004 yang bertugas melakukan koodinasi dengan CODATA dari berbagai negara dan pusat, serta mengorganisir kegiatan pada tingkat nasional.

Lukman) sebagai Delegasi Indonesia dalam 28th CODATA General Assembly 2012 di Taipei, Taiwan, 1-2 November 2012 Workshop Membangun ketersediaan akses data hasil penelitian melalui Sistem Repositori Data Ilmiah Primer, PDII-LIPI, 21 November PDII LIPI mengirimkan 2 (dua) orang staf (Sdr. Budi Nugroho dan Sdr. Ekawati Marlina) sebagai Delegasi Indonesia dalam CODATA International Training Workshop in Big Data for Science, for Researchers from Emerging and Developing Countries, Beijing - China, 4-20 June 2014 PDII LIPI mengirimkan 2 (dua) orang staf (Sdr. Budi Nugroho dan Sdr. Ekawati Marlina) sebagai Delegasi Indonesia dalam CODATA Workshop on Big Data for International Scientific Programmes, 8-9 June 2014, Beijing

28 Kegiatan tingkat nasional yang telah dilakukan: (4) PDII LIPI telah mem-propose kepada Dr. Simon Hodson, Executive Director of Codata International di Paris, terkait dengan kegiatan Lokakarya yang akan diselenggarakan PDII di bulan September 2014 yang akan datang, untuk mendatangkan narasumber internasional yang dibiayai penuh oleh Codata International. Hal ini telah ditindaklanjuti dengan komunikasi via oleh sub koordinator kegiatan (Sdr. Ambar Yoganingrum) untuk bisa dikoordinasikan dengan kegiatan di DIPA 2014 dan mendapat respon positif. PDII LIPI mengusulkan akan mengirimkan 1 (satu) orang staf (Sdr. Budi Nugroho) sebagai Delegasi Indonesia dalam The International Conference on Data Sharing and Integration for Global Sustainability (SciDataCon) 2014, di New Delhi - India, 2-5 November 2014 (telah mengirim paper dan menerima letter of invitation) Kedeputian Bidang Jasa Ilmiah LIPI mengusulkan agar Bapak Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Subiyanto M.Sc. berkenan menghadiri 29th CODATA General Assembly 2014 di New Delhi, India, 6-7 November 2014 (letter of invitation telah dikirimkan oleh panitia)

29 Evaluasi Keanggotaan Indonesia di CODATA (1) Biaya keanggotaan CODATA saat ini dibayarkan oleh Setneg RI dan setiap tahun mengalami kenaikan yang signifikan berdasarkan tingkat perekonomian Negara yang diukur dari GDP. Sesuai invoice yang diterima pada awal tahun 2014, biaya keanggotaan Indonesia sebesar lebih kurang USD 3500 atau setara dengan Rp ,-. Jika dibandingkan dengan peluang dan kesempatan yang diperoleh Indonesia sebagai anggota, misalnya dengan mengirimkan delegasi untuk mengikuti training peningkatan kapasitas, tentunya biaya ini sepadan.

30 Evaluasi Keanggotaan Indonesia di CODATA (2) Keanggotaan LIPI di Codata Internasional dengan PDII LIPI sebagai focal point masih strategis dalam konteks membangun kerjasama internasional. Keanggotaan Indonesia dalam Codata Internasional perlu dilanjutkan dengan upaya mengatasi kendala yaitu belum adanya kesepakatan pembentukan Komite Nasional CODATA Indonesia dan penanganannya masih bersifat internal. Upaya awal PDII LIPI untuk menyegarkan kembali aktivitas CODATA Indonesia di antaranya dengan mensinergikan kegiatan PDII LIPI tahun 2014.
