1 HOUSE AND FAMILY DESCRIPTIVE TEXT AND ADJECTIVE ORDER

2 ROOMS AND PLACES IN THE HOME  Bedroom  A room used for sleeping in.  Living room (UK also sitting room, AUSTRALIAN ENGLISH also lounge room)  The room in a house or apartment that is used for relaxing, and entertaining guests, but not usually for eating.  Bathroom  A room with a bath and/or shower and often a toilet.  Hall  The area just inside the main entrance of a house, apartment or other building which leads to other rooms and usually to the stairs.

3 CONTINUE  Utility room  Usually just for washing machine, freezer etc.  Shed  A separated building from the house usually for storing garden tools.  Loft  Space in the roof of the house usually used only for storage.  Attic  Room in the roof space of a house (could be lived in.)

4  Cellar  Room below ground level without any windows used for storage.  Basement  Room below ground level, with windows, used for living and working.  Landing  Flat area at the top of a staircase.  Hall  Open area as you come into the house.  Porch  Covered area before the entrance door.

5  Pantry or larder  Large cupboard used, especially in the past, for storing food.  Terrace or patio  Paved area between the house and garden for sitting and eating, etc.  Study  A room for reading, writing, studying in.  Balcony  An area with a wall or bars around it that is joined to the outside wall of a building on an upper level.

7 ADJECTIVE ORDER OPINIONAn opinion adjective explains what you think about something SIZEA size adjective, of course, tells you how big or small something is. AGEAn age adjective tells you how young or old something or someone is. SHAPEA shape adjective describes the shape of something COLOURA colour adjective, of course, describes the colour of something. ORIGINAn origin adjective describes where something comes from. MATERIALA material adjective describes what something is made from. PURPOSEA purpose adjective describes what something is used for. These adjectives often end with “-ing”.

9 LET’S MAKE A DESCRIPTION  Di setiap Descriptive Text terdapat dua bagian yang menjadi ciri dari Descriptive Text itu sendiri. Kedua bagian tersebut adalah :Descriptive Text  Identification : berisi tentang identifikasi hal / seorang yang akan dideskripsikan.  Description : berisi tentang penjelasan / penggambaran tentang hal / seseorang dengan menyebutkan beberapa sifatnya.

10 CIRI KEBAHASAN DESCRIPTIVE TEXT  Descriptive Text menggunakan Present Tense, misalnya: go, eat, fly, etc.  Descriptive Text menggunakan berbagaimacam Adjectives (kata sifat) yang bersifat Describing (mengambarkan), Numbering (Menomerkan), dan Classifying (mengklasifikasikan), misalnya: two strong legs, sharp white fangs, etc.  Descriptive Text menggunakan Relating Verbs untuk memberikan informasi tentang subjek, misalnya: my mum is realy cool, it has very thick fur, etc.

11  Descriptive Text menggunakan Thinking Verbs (kata kerja berfikir, seperti belive, think, etc.) dan Feeling Verbs (kata kerja perasa, seperti feel)untuk mengungkapkan pandangan pribadi penulis tentang subjek, misalnya: police believe the suspect is armed, I think it is a clever animal, etc.  Descriptive Text juga menggunakan Adverbs (kata keterangan) untuk memberikan informasi tambahan mengenai perilaku atau sifat (Adjective) yang dijelaskan, misalnya: it is extremely high, it runs definitely past, etc.
