It is a combination of clay coils that is heaped one by one to make ceramic. The coils function as the ceramic’s wall as well as decoration. Making the relatively bigger and complex but simple ceramic to get the various shape.

MATERIALS Flexible clay Water Clay slip Seni Kerajinan dan Pariwisata

8 THE PROCESS HANDBUILDING USING COIL TECHNIQUE
Take and cut the flexible clay Knead the clay to get solid and free air bubble clay.

9 THE PROCESS Place the building base on the banding wheel, then make slab by pushing the clay using both hands. Spin the banding wheel and cut the clay into a circle, following the building shape

10 THE PROCESS Scratch the edge of the slab using needle then nub with clay slip. Make some coils carefully to get relatively the same diameter. VIDEO SHOW

11 THE PROCESS Scratch the coil and nub with clay slip.
Place the coil on the edge of the slab so that it will stick strongly. Cut and connected the coil

12 THE PROCESS Add some coils to get the cylinder shape
Make variation to the coil to make beautiful ceramic

13 THE PROCESS Make small balls for decoration.
Add coil as ceramic then neaten it.

14 THE PROCESS Cut and release ceramic from the Banding Wheel
Pick it up and expose it to the air on the shelves before put it in the sun

15 THE PROCESS FLAT COIL TECHNIQUE Make slab as ceramic base
Cut based on the diameter of the ceramic base

16 THE PROCESS Make some coils Arrange the to get the determined shape

17 THE PROCESS Put them into one by smoothen the both side
Flatten to produce flat coil ceramic
