3 POSITIVE DEGREE (TINGKATAN SAMA)
DEFINITION : is used to compare two thinks that are equal. Pola yang digunakan untuk membandingkan 2 benda yang memiliki kualitas sama. POLA : S + to be + as + adjective + as S + verb + as + adverb + as Eg. Yana is as clever as Adrian Dena speaks as loudly as his father

4 COMPARATIVE DEGREE (TINGKATAN LEBIH)
DEFINITION : is used to compare two things that are not equal. Comparative Degree (Tingkatan Lebih) digunakan untuk menyatakan bahwa keadaan suatu benda atau orang lebih dari yang lainnya. Pola yang digunakan untuk membandingkan 2 benda, dimana benda yang satu memiliki kualitas lebih daripada benda yang lain.

6 SUPERLATIVE DEGREE (TINGKATAN PALING)
DEFINITION → is used to compare one thing with two or more other things. Superlative Degree (Tingkatan Paling) digunakan untuk menyatakan bahwa suatu benda atau orang (tunggal) adalah paling atau ter…dibanding lainnya (jamak) Pola yang digunakan untuk membandingkan tiga benda atau lebih, dimana benda yang satu memiliki kualitas paling di antara benda yang lainnya.

1. Kata sifat yang berakhiran huruf -e diubah menjadi comparative dengan menambahkan -r. Kalau diubah ke superlative tinggal menambahkan -st Contoh Comparative : Brave : berani  braver : lebih berani Large : luas  larger : lebih luas Contoh Superlative : Brave : berani  bravest : paling berani Large : luas  largest : paling luas Kata sifat yang terdiri dari satu suku kata dan berakhiran dengan huruf mati dapat diubah menjadi comparative dengan menambahkan -er. Kalau diubah ke superlative tinggal menambahkan -est. Contoh Comparative : Hard : keras  harder : lebih keras High : tinggi  higher : lebih tinggi Contoh Superlative : Hard : keras  hardest : paling keras High : tinggi  highest : paling tinggi

3. Kata sifat yang berakhiran huruf mati setelah satu huruf hidup yang berbunyi dapat diubah menjadi comparative dengan menggandakan huruf mati tersebut & kemudian menambahkan -er. Kalau diubah ke superlative tinggal menambahkan -est Contoh Comparative : Big : besar  bigger : lebih besar Fat : gemuk  fatter : lebih gemuk Contoh Superlative : Big : besar  biggest : paling besar Fat : gemuk  fattest : paling gemuk 4. Kata sifat yang berakhiran huruf -y setelah huruf mati dapat diubah menjadi comparative dengan menggantikan huruf -y dengan huruf –I kemudian ditambahkan -er. Kalau diubah ke superlative tinggal menambahkan -est Contoh Comparative : Crazy : gila  crazier : lebih gila Easy : mudah  easier : lebih mudah Contoh Superlative : Crazy : gila  craziest : paling gila Easy : mudah  easiest : paling mudah

10 5. Kata sifat yang berakhiran huruf -r, -er, -le, -ow dapat diubah menjadi comparative dengan menambahkan -er. Kalau diubah ke superlative tinggal menambahkan -est Contoh Comparative : Clever : pandai  cleverer : lebih pandai Shallow : dangkal  shallower : lebih dangkal Contoh Superlative : Clever : pandai  cleverest : paling pandai Near : dekat  nearest : paling dekat Kata sifat yang terdiri dari tiga suku kata atau lebih dapat diubah menjadi comparative dengan menambahkan more. Kalau diubah ke superlative tinggal menambahkan MOST Contoh Comparative : Beautiful : cantik  more beautiful : lebih cantik Delicious : enak  more delicious : lebih enak Contoh Superlative : Beautiful : cantik  most beautiful : paling cantik Delicious : enak  most delicious : paling enak

11 5. Beberapa kata sifat diubah menjadi comparative dengan pola yang tidak beraturan. Begitu juga untuk superlative.
