Kewiraswastaan istilah ini dikenal sekitar tahun tujuhpuluhan

Salah satu tokoh yang mempopulerkan istilah kewiraswastaan

4 Arti wiraswasta : Wira : utama, gagah, luhur, berani, teladan Swa : sendiri ; sta : berdiri Swasta : berdiri di atas kaki sendiri = berdiri atas kemampuan sendiri

5 Disini terlihat perlunya sintesis
wira (pemberani dan penuh keteladanan) dan swasta (kemampuan untuk berdiri sendiri) Kewiraswastaan banyak menekankan segi kemampuan untuk berdiri sendiri

6 Wiraswasta merupakan sifat-sifat keberanian, keutamaan, dan keteladanan dalam mengambil resiko yang bersumber pada kemampuan sendiri

Definition of Entrepreneurship Classic Definition by Joseph A. Schumpeter: Development as carrying out of new combinations: introduction of a new good introduction of a new method of production opening of new market conquest of a new source of supply of raw materials or half-manufactured goods carrying out of the new organization of any industry Entrepreneurship: the process whereby an individual or a group of individuals use recognized efforts and means to pursue opportunities to create value and grow by fulfilling wants and needs through innovation and uniqueness, no matter what resources are currently controlled. (Coulter, 2001) Entrepreneurship is a dynamic process of vision, change, and creation. It requires an application of energy and passion towards the creation and implementation of new ideas and creative solutions. Essential ingredients include the willingness to take calculated risks – in terms of time, equity, and career; the ability to formulate an effective venture team; the creative skill to marshal needed resources; the fundamental skill of building a solid business plan; and, finally, the vision to recognize opportunity where others see chaos, contradiction, and confusion. (Kuratko & Hodgetts, 2004)
