3 Definitions of Procedure Text Procedure Text is a text that is designed to describe how something is achieved through a sequence of actions or steps.

4 The Purpose of Procedure Text The purpose of Procedure Text is to make the reader understand how to make or how to operate something with a sequence of actions or steps.

5 Types of Procedure Text 1. Procedure text that instructs how to do certain activities (Recipes). For example: -How to make a noodle -How to dance -How to play basketball and Etc.

6 Types of Procedure Text 2. Procedure text related to human behavior. For example: -How to succeed -How to live happily -how to be a good person and Etc.

7 Types of Procedure Text 3. Procedural text that identifies something works or how to do the instruction manual you can called as Manual Procedure. - Examples: How to use the video game, the computer, the tape recorder, the fax and etc.

8 Generic Structures  Goal: provides information about the intent and purpose of the procedure and predicts a conclusion.  Materials: contains a list of materials or materials needed to perform a procedure or steps.  Steps: a list of instruction / activity sequences to achieve the objectives in the correct step sequence.  Result: Result of a series of steps that have been done.

9 Language Features of Manual Procedure Texts  1.Using pattern imperative sentences (commands). For example: Cut, Do not mix, and so on.  2.Using action verbs, such as turn, put, do not, mix, etc.  3.Using connectives (conjunctions) to sort of activities, such as then, while, and so on.  4.Using the adverbials (adverb) to reveal details of time, place, manner accurate. For example: for five minutes, 2 hours, etc.  5.Using the simple present.
