CONDITIONAL SENTENCES Conditional Sentence adalah kalimat yang menyatakan syarat terjadinya peristiwa. Terdiri dari : Main clause dan if-Clause. RUMUS CONDITIONAL SENTENCE : Type If-Clause/Sub.Clause Main Clause Type I If + S.Present - S.Present - S. Future Type II If + S. Past S. Past Future Type III If + Past Perfect Past Future Perfect

CONTOH CONDITIONAL SENTENCE Berikut contoh conditional sentence sesuai dengan rumus : If I meet him, I will introduce myself. (Jika saya bertemu dia, saya akan memperkenalkan diri.) If it rained now, I would sleep all day. (Jika sekarang hujan, saya akan tidur sepanjang hari.) If you had remembered to invite me, I would have attended your party. (Jika kamu ingat mengundang saya, saya akan hadir di pestamu.)

Conditional Sentence di bagi dalam 3 type, yaitu : Type I. Future Possible Type II. Present Unreal Type III. Past Unreal

I. FUTURE POSSIBLE Digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu perbuatan yang kemungkinan bisa terjadi di Present atau Future. Untuk type ini susunan kalimatnya sbb. : Induk kalimat (Main Clause) - Simple Future Tense Anak Kalimat (If Clause) - Simple Present Tense Example : If you study hard, you will pass the examination. I will buy a car if I have much money.

II. PRESENT UNREAL Digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu keadaan yang berbeda/berlawanan dengan kenyataan di masa sekarang. Sikap pembicara dalam hal ini agak pesimis karena kemungkinan terjadinya perbuatan tersebut hanya sedikit. Susunan kalimatnya sebagai berikut : Induk Kalimat (Main Clause) - Past Future Tense Anak Kalimat (If Clause) - Simple Past Tense Example : If I had wings, I would fly to the sky. (I don’t have wings). If I had a car, I would take a trip to Bali. ( I don’t have a car).

III. PAST UNREAL Digunakan untuk menyatakan suatu keadaan yang berbeda/berlawanan dengan kenyataan yang sebenarnya di masa lampau. Sikap pembicara dalam hal ini adalah menyesal (regretting). Susunan kalimatnya sbb : Induk Kalimat (Main Clause) - Past Future Perfect Tense Anak Kalimat (If Clause) - Past Perfect Tense Example : If he had gone to the concert last night, he would have seen Mary. (He didn’t go to the concert) If I had seen you yesterday, I would have told you about it. (I didn’t see you yesterday)
