Certainty is the state of being completely confident or having no doubt about something. How ever, uncertainty / doubt is when nothing is ever decided or sure.

Expressing Certainty When you are sure that something will happen in the future, use these expessions. For example to the question: “Will John pass the Exam?” You may respon as follows: Yes, I’m absolutely sure he will. Yes, I’m quite sure he will Yes‘, I’m certain he will Yes, I’m positive he will Definitely Certainty Of course

Expressing Uncertainty / Doubt When you are not sure whether something or someone will not happen, use the following expressions. For example to the questions: “Will Anna come?” You may respond as follow as: Well, it’s possible I suppose, but I wouldn’t like to say for certain. Well, it’s impossible. I’m not sure. It could happen, but I’m not sure. It might be, but I doubt it. I have my own doubts It’s doubtful No one can know for certain I can’t tell you for sure
