7 Film Structure Inilah lapisan tipis untuk melindungi lapisan emulsi di bawahnya terhadap kerusakan mekanis. Selain itu lapisan ini mempunyai tujuan guna mencegah timbulnya cincin Newton. Ialah lapisan terpenting pada film dan terdiri dari butir-butir perak halo genida yang peka cahaya. Lapisan ini biasanya terdiri dari campuran beberapa jenis emulsi yang ciri-ciri khasnya telah ditentukan Adalah lapisan film grafika yang biasanya terdiri dari triaserat atau poliester Adalah lapisan khusus yang diletakkan pada punggung film. Lapisan ini diwarnai dengan bahan warna tertentu yang sifat spektrumnya dipilih sedemikian, hingga sinar yang selama penyinaran menembus emulsi, semuanya diserap dan tidak dipantulkan pada sisi bawah lapisan emulsi (gejala halo!)
