KRAKATAU STEEL COLD ROLLING MILL PRODUCTION FLOW CHART TCM BAF ECL1 CAL TPM PRP CPL HRC REC SHR SLT CRC CRS CR SLIT P&O As Rolled Full Hard Soft ECL2 Keterangan : Cold Rolling is a term used in the steel industry which applies to the operation of passing unheated metal through rollers to reduce its thickness and control its shape and finish. This process produces a smooth, dense surface and with or without subsequent heat treatment, gives the product certain controlled mechanical properties. From the above production flow, Cold Rolling Mill produces 4 (four) kinds of product. 1. Pickle and Oil : Some of CPL production that being finish product without reduction on reduction mill. 2. As Rolled : Some of TCM production that unpassing the next line such as annealing, cleaning, heating, tempering and finishing. 3. Full Hard : Some of Production that unpassing Annealing Line (BAF or CAL) and Tempering for being Finish Product. 4. Soft : Some of Production that passing to Annealing Line (BAF or CAL) with or without Cleaning line on ECL#1/ECL#2 before Tempering for being Finish Product.

The hydrochloric acid can be regenerated by thermal decomposition of the waste pickle liquid into hydrochloric acid and iron oxide. This type of iron oxide has a high market value as there is considerable demand for it in the dyestuff and ferrite industries. Sebelum bahan baku Hot Rolled Coil (HRC) dari HSM dapat diproses di Tandem Cold Mill, “Sisik” dari permukaan HRC yang berasal dari oksidasi selama proses hot rolling harus dihilangkan dengan proses “Pickling” dengan asam chlorida (HCl). Limbah dari cairan asam chlorida dapat diolah kembali melalui proses dekomposisi menjadi cairan asam Chlorida dan oksidasi besi. KRAKATAU STEEL COLD ROLLING MILL A Five stand four high tandem reduction mill reduce the pickled hot strip (has been pickled in CPL) to the desired thickness. The mill is computer controlled, operates at 1980 m/min and is capable of reductions of up to 92% of the incoming thickness. Perangkat penipis 5 (lima) stand dipakai untuk menipiskan baja lembaran yang sudah dibersihkan di CPL untuk mencapai ketebalan yang diingin- kan. Peralatan ini dikontrol melalui komputer dengan kecepatan rolling maksiumum 1980 m/menit dan dapat menipiskan baja lembaran maksi- mum sampai 92%.

The strip which has been stretch and hardned in the mill is unsuitable for any forming or drawing. So it must be heat-treaded at a temperature between 590 o C - 700 o C to obtain proper characteristics of ductility, yield elongation, softness and draw ability for further processing purposed. Setelah proses penipisan di TCM, beberapa coil setelah melalui proses electrolytic cleaning atau langsung dari TCM harus di panaskan di Batch Annealing Furnace untuk proses pengkristalisasian. Strip yang mengalami penekanan dan pengerasan di lintasan mill sebelumnya mengakibatkan perubahan struktur pada strip tersebut. Sehingga untuk mengembalikannya harus dipanaskan pada temperatur 590 o C - 700 o C untuk menentukan karakteristik yang tepat dari strip agar didapat ductibility,yield elongation, softness dan drawability yang dikehendaki. (max),30 volt (max) - 2 sets. After cold reduction rolling, the remaining oil film and grease on the strip surface must be removed. For this purpose the electrolytic cleaning line using high current density which is an electrolytic process was installed. The high current is supplied from the conductor rolls as positive electrodes to the solution as negative electrode ( wrap to wrap system). Therefore, the oil grease layer is removed from the strip surface. The line is made up of : Entry section, process section and exit section. Setelah proses penipisan di TCM, oli tipis yang melapisi kedua permukaan strip, grease dan material lainnya yang terbawa pada waktu proses reduksi harus dihilangkan. Untuk maksud tersebut digunakan Electrolytic Cleaning Line #1 yang menggunakan arus tinggi. Arus tinggi ini disupplies dari roll konduktor sebagai elektrode positif, solusi sebagai elektrode negatif (wrap to wrap system), oleh karena itu oli, grease dan material lainnya dapat dihilangkan/dibersihkan dari kedua permukaan strip. Heating / Holding Temp.: 670 o C - 730 o C (max) Cooling Temp.: 400 o C - 500 o C (max) Furnace Exit Temp.: 100 o C (max) The purpose of the annealing process is to recrystalize the strip coming from Cold Reduction Mill, since the strip thickness is reduced in Tandem Cold Mill, the crystalline structure of Cooled Rolled Steel is stretched out, crushed out and hardened, so the strip losses its properties to be easily bent, deep-drawn, etc. In this annealing process. The strip is heated up to 700 o C max. (depends on quality required) and kept at this temperature for certain period and then cooled down; so, the new crystal grains grow gradually. Tujuan utama dari proses annealing ini adalah pengkristalisasian kembali strip setelah diproses di Tandem Cold Mill. Ketika tebal strip mengalami proses penipisan di Tandem Cold Mill, struktur kristal dari strip mengalami perubahan sehingga daya properties mekanisnya berkurang. Dalam proses annealing strip dipanaskan sampai 700 o C max, selama periode tertentu, kemudian didinginkan (Proses kristalisasi). Proses ini dapat meningkatkan properties mekanis dari strip sehingga diperoleh kemampuan formability, drawabilty, ductility yang dikehendaki. PT. KRAKATAU STEEL COLD ROLLING MILL

The difference is that, in temper rolling one strives to get definite mechanical properties, definite surface pattern and improvement of strip shape. Small reduction of 0.1 - 5% are also taken, whereas in cold reduction, the reduction is far, greater magnitude (50-90%). Pada prinsipnya, Temper Mill adalah sama dengan Tandem Cold Reduction Mill (TCM). Perbedaannya adalah didalam Temper Mill ini berusaha untuk mendapatkan sifat-sifat mekanik logam yang diperlukan, kerataan permukaan dan meningkatkan strip shape. Reduksi di TPM sangatlah kecil antara 0.1 - 5% sedangkan penipisan di TCM jauh lebih besar dari TPM yaitu 50-90%. PT. KRAKATAU STEEL COLD ROLLING MILL
