Contribution to Industrial Psychology by Hugo Münsterberg Münsterberg wrote the book, ”Psychology and Industrial Efficiency”, which looked at problems with monotony, attention and fatigue, physical and social influences on the working power, the effects of advertising and the future development of economic psychology. Group Ethics by Mary Parker Follett Follett suggested that organizations function on the principle of power "with" and not power "over." She recognized the holistic nature of community and advanced the idea of "reciprocal relationships" in understanding the dynamic aspects of the individual in relationship to others. Follett advocated the principle of integration, "power sharing." Hawthorne Studies A series of experiments on worker productivity begun in 1924 Till 1932 at the Hawthorne plant of Western Electric Company in Illinois. The purpose of the original ones was to study the effect of lighting on workers’ productivity. Researchers found that productivity almost always increased after a change in illumination but later returned to normal levels. 2017/4/14
