1978, Federal Trade Commission (FTC) mengeluarkan peraturan yang mewajibkan franchisor memiliki dokumen informasi lengkap mengenai bisnis franchisenya (Uniform Franchise Offering Circular/UFOC). UFOC = sejarah bisnis, pengelola, aspek hukum, perkiraan investasi, konsep bisnis, salinan perjanjian, daftar nama dan alamat franchisee.
